Reflection on key concepts - Module 4
One of the most significant concepts I have
taken away from this module is the importance of creating rubrics for summative
assessments. Before this course, I had never developed rubrics for assessments,
and the thought of it was quite daunting. However, with the help of AI tools
such as Magic School, ChatGPT, Quick Rubric, and Claude, I found the process to
be much easier and more time-efficient than I had imagined. These tools
provided clear templates and suggestions that guided me through the creation of
rubrics that clearly outlined my expectations for each assessment. I realized
that by using these AI tools, I was able to provide my students with a better
understanding of what was expected of them, which, in turn, led to improved
performance. The process reinforced my belief that good prompting is crucial
for getting extraordinary results, as the quality of the rubrics and
assessments I created directly depended on how well I could communicate my
expectations through the prompts I provided to these AI tools. I realized of
that because I struggled creating some of these tasks without being as specific
as I should, and the results I got were not good enough as the ones the teacher
showed. After reviewing classes I realized some of the key points I was
missing, and immediately, I corrected my prompts to get the results I expected.
On the
other hand, what surprised a lot, was the capability of AI tools to provide
personalized feedback to my students. This was something I had never
experienced before, and it really highlighted the potential of AI in education.
Tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Question Well, and Quizalize surprised me a lot
because they go deeper when providing significant feedback to students. These tools
are very efficient in supporting students’ weaknesses, and it has a huge
importance in making them improve. Also, they facilitate teachers’ jobs
becoming teachers’ assistants to keep students in contact with the language. Initially,
I found it challenging to fully grasp how to use these tools to their full
potential, partly due to some internet connection issues that made it difficult
to access the resources and classes. Despite these challenges, I was determined
to make the most of this learning opportunity. I spent extra time reviewing the
classes, practicing with the AI tools that the teacher introduced, and
following the prompts step by step to improve my skills. Over time, I noticed
that my ability to create more effective assessments and provide detailed,
personalized feedback improved significantly. This not only helped my students
to focus on their weak areas but also allowed me to track their progress more
effectively. I have been using these tools to assign extra work to my students to
monitor their progress and focus on the areas they need to improve. I have
gotten the expected results from them, and I am eager to continue applying
these tools to make them leave their comfort area and go beyond.
