Introduction - Module 4

In this third module of the specialization course on AI: “Assessments with AI”, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how artificial intelligence can transform the way we create and deliver formative and summative assessments. I had previously been introduced to some AI applications in earlier modules, but this module has really solidified how they can be used to focus on students' needs and create more effective assessments. I have explored a variety of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Magic School, Brisk, Quizalize, Kahoot, Question Well, and Quizizz, all of which have opened up new possibilities in adapting assessments that address my students' weak areas in English. These tools have not only simplified the assessment creation process but also allowed me to better understand and respond to the diverse needs of my students. There were a few new tools to work with in this module, but I realized all the functions of the previous tools studied that we were still miss...

Reflection on key concepts - Module 4

One of the most significant concepts I have taken away from this module is the importance of creating rubrics for summative assessments. Before this course, I had never developed rubrics for assessments, and the thought of it was quite daunting. However, with the help of AI tools such as Magic School, ChatGPT, Quick Rubric, and Claude, I found the process to be much easier and more time-efficient than I had imagined. These tools provided clear templates and suggestions that guided me through the creation of rubrics that clearly outlined my expectations for each assessment. I realized that by using these AI tools, I was able to provide my students with a better understanding of what was expected of them, which, in turn, led to improved performance. The process reinforced my belief that good prompting is crucial for getting extraordinary results, as the quality of the rubrics and assessments I created directly depended on how well I could communicate my expectations through the pro...

Conclusion - Module 4

Overall, this module has been an expanding knowledge experience for me, and I feel that I have grown both as a teacher and as a learner. I’ve learned that AI can take teachers to the next level by saving time on creating assessments and allowing us to focus more on the content and the results we want to achieve. AI tools have proven to be invaluable in helping me to avoid misunderstandings with my students by making my expectations clearer and providing them with the guidance they need to succeed. Moreover, I have come to realize that good prompting is indeed the key to success when working with difficult assessments, and I am now more confident in my ability to use these tools to create effective rubrics and summative assessments. Moving forward, I plan to continue using these AI tools to enhance my teaching practice, and I am excited to see how they will further improve my students’ learning experiences. Finally, I can express that I have enjoyed this journey through the Artifi...

AI Creations - Module 4

Imagen
During this course, I have put into practice the knowledge obtained by creating some assessments that lead students to improve their English skills. Tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot were useful to generate summative assessments but also assessment instruments like Rubrics, Checklists, and observation sheets. Project and Rubric:  Likewise, tools such as Quizizz, Quizalize, Kahoot, and Question Well were significantly important to develop formative assessments. Also, these tools allow teachers to combine them to make them catchier for students. Formative assessments:

Introduction - Module 3

Walking into the third module of this specialization course, "Creating Effective Lesson Plans with AI and Design Thinking," I was both excited and a little worried about the new challenges I was about to face. The idea of creating engaging and comprehensive lesson plans for an entire year felt like a hard task. I thought I was not prepared enough to overcome this new challenge because I was conscious that I had not practiced enough with the tools that the teacher had taught. This module pushed me the most to improve because it was my first experience creating a lesson plan for a complete academic year of high school, and I was convinced that my inexperience was going to play against me. However, the fear of failure became part of my motivation. Since I started the course, I have realized how AI has not only helped me create effective learning experiences but also has saved me a significant amount of time, allowing me to focus on more strategic aspects of teaching. Undoubted...

Reflection on key concepts - Module 3

The initial journey was not without its challenges. This was my first time creating a year-long lesson plan, and I was trying to deal with the pressure of developing an excellent lesson plan. It was very challenging to structure a year's worth of learning experiences into a cohesive and engaging program because it is very necessary to focus on students' needs. Sometimes, it can be hard to do without enough experience in the high school environment. Additionally, I was still getting accustomed to dealing with the AI tools I learned about in the previous modules. To be honest, there were moments when I misunderstood aspects of the assignment, and my prompting skills needed some serious work. The results I got from the AI assistants were inconsistent at times, reflecting my inability to clearly communicate what I needed. For example, I might ask ChatGPT, Copilot, or Gemini to generate a lesson plan on Pre-A1, but the output lacked specific activities or assessments tailored to d...

Conclusion - Module 3

This module proved to be a transformative learning experience. It opened my eyes to the immense potential of AI in revolutionizing the educational environment. These powerful tools empower teachers and students to move beyond traditional methods, fostering innovative and engaging learning experiences and I think that this is the way that education has to follow in order to improve its quality. Imagine a classroom where AI assists in creating personalized learning paths for each student; also, allowing teachers to innovate their methodology focusing specifically on students’ needs. The possibilities are truly exciting and that is why I think it is very important that teachers leave the fear of introducing AI to education. Furthermore, the success of this project reinforced the importance of collaboration in developing complex tasks. By working together, sharing each other's strengths, supporting each other’s weaknesses, and combining our knowledge of AI tools, we were able to ac...
